Kolkata: The state Science and Technology and Bio-Technology department is mulling to upgrade the science laboratories in the schools soon.
On Tuesday, while attending the inaugural programme of 3rd Regional Science and Technology Congress 2018, state Science and Technology and Bio-Technology minister Bratya Basu said: "We are mulling to upgrade the science laboratories in the schools for Class XI and XII."
He also informed that the government will arrange such conventions in the districts in near future. The state government has some other plans as well. "We want decentralisation in case of spreading awareness on science and technology. Previously, the science congress was held in North Bengal. Later, another Science Congress will be held in Purulia. In near future, such conventions will be arranged in districts," Basu said.
During the two-day Science Congress programme, several students, faculties and researchers will present their research papers.
While the application was on, a total of 504 research papers was accepted out of 676 submitted. According to organisers, the researchers will present their papers from 12 subjects. A total of five papers from each subject will be chosen for the outstanding award.
They will compete with other researchers from other zones. The Science Congress in Northern Zone has already completed and total 40 papers have been selected.
The Western Zone science congress will be held in Purulia soon. After successful completion of the three regional Science Congresse, the selected papers will be presented in the State Science Congress that is scheduled to take place on February 28 and March 1 at Science City.
