Kolkata: Kolkata Police has suspended vehicular traffic on some roads for the programme organised to celebrate the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Status to Durga Puja on September 1.
The movement of all vehicles along the Red Road will be suspended from 11 pm on August 30 to 4 am on August 31. On the following day, traffic will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am on September 1. The duration of disruption has not been specified for September 1 for traffic will be suspended as and when required. Vehicular traffic will remain shut from 12:30 am to 5 am on September 2 as well.
In a traffic notification, they have stated that movement of all types of goods vehicles, except emergency goods vehicles will be restricted within the Kolkata Police jurisdiction from 8 am to 8 pm on
September 1.
On the day of celebration, movement of vehicles and carts will be temporarily suspended or diverted or not allowed to be parked on JM Avenue, CR Avenue, Vivekananda Road, KK Tagore Street, MG Road, BB Ganguly Street, GC Avenue, SN Banerjee Road, Lenin Sarani, Mayo Road, Outram Road, RR Avenue, JL Nehru Road, Dufferin Road, Khidderpore Road and Esplanade Row (East), amongst others as and when considered necessary by the Traffic Police on duty.
