Kolkata: Soumitra Majumdar assumed charge as General Manager of South Eastern Railway (SER) on Wednesday, the zone said in a statement.
Majumdar, an Indian Railways Traffic Service officer of the 1989 batch, was serving as Additional General Manager of SER before this appointment. He will hold the post until a regular incumbent is appointed. He has previously served as Principal Chief Commercial Manager of Eastern Railway (ER) and held key positions including Chief Passenger Transportation Manager and Chief Traffic Planning Manager in SER. He also served for an extended period as Chief Public Relations Officer in both ER and SER.
Officials said Majumdar brings experience in operations, commercial management, public relations and media management.
