Sanjay Roy death: Cops to summon Apollo's tariff committee members

The police will summon members of the tariff committee of Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals soon.

Sources said that the police have asked the authorities of the private hospitalsto provide a list containing names of the members of the tariff committee of the hospital. The members of the committee fix the rate of each and every health service that the hospital provides.

The police have also asked the hospital authorities to provide details of educational qualifications of the members. They also have to inform the police that for how long they had been in the posts of members of the tariff committee.

After going through the details that will be provided by the hospital authorities soon, the police will decide whom to interrogate. Accordingly, they will be summoned.

The police have already interrogated most of the officials and doctors of the private hospitals to get information in connection with the alleged medical negligence that led to the death of Sanjay Roy and overcharging the patient.

On the basis of the statement given by the doctors and officials, including some from the billing section, the police have prepared a data on charges of different health services provided to Sanjay by the hospital.

The police would tally it with that of the members of the tariff committee of the hospital and at the same time would ask them to explain that on what basis they usually fix the rate of a particular health service. They will also be asked to give a list of the parameters that they keep under consideration to fix the rate.

According to a police officer, the reply of the members of the tariff committee is quite crucial in terms of the case of Sanjay's death due to alleged negligence of the hospital.
