The state committee of CPI(M) has found the behaviour of party's Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Bandyopadhyay not in accordance with party lines.
A committee was formed to probe into the allegations made against Bandyopadhyay and it has submitted its report to the state committee. The committee will take up the matter in its meeting on August 7 and 8.
For quite some time, the state committee had been receiving complaints about the behavior of Bandyopadhyay. He was found to be wearing a costly Apple wrist watch. One of the party's supporters had raised the issue in social media.
There was a lot of response on social media. Bandyopadhyay had called up the HR department of the office where the person who had raised the issue works and asked them to take action against him.
This did not go well with the party and senior party leaders including the state secretary Dr Suryakanta Misra had criticised him. A committee was set up to probe into the allegations.
Senior leaders said the committee had found that his behavior was not in accordance with the party lines. They said the state committee members would sit and decide the quantum of punishment.
