Retirement age extended for nurses

Kolkata: The retirement age of nurses in the state has been extended from 60 years to 62 years.

At the same time, the age of appointing contractual nurses has been increased from 39 to 45 years.

The state government has taken the move to ensure better health service to the people of Bengal.

It may be stated that at present, there are around 84,000 beds in the state-run health centres. So, there is a requirement of around 50,000 nurses.

At present, many posts of nurses are lying vacant.

The state government has taken all necessary steps to fill up the posts and the recruitment board is also carrying out the necessary processes.

Since recruiting nurses is a time consuming matter, the state government has taken the step of increasing the age limit of retirement for nurses, as

it would help in extending better service to the common people. MPOST
