Kolkata: A patient died while waiting in the queue for her turn to meet the doctor at SSKM Hospital on Monday morning. The deceased, who has been identified as Nandarani Dandapat, hailed from West Midnapore.
According to other patients in the queue, Dandapat, along with her family members, was waiting for her turn at the Nephrology department of the Hospital. All of a sudden, she collapsed and hit the ground. Immediately, her family members and relatives of other patients sought help from the hospital. A doctor rushed to the spot and found Dandapat dead.
As soon as she was declared dead, tension arose inside the hospital premises. Her family members were asked by doctors to take her body to emergency to make her death official and do the needful for autopsy examination. But Dandapat's family members left the hospital without informing the authorities.
The deceased had reportedly been suffering from kidney problems since a long time and used to visit SSKM Hospital often.
