One trafficker held, two girls freed from prostitution ring

Kolkata: A person has been arrested for alleged immoral trafficking two young women and forced them into prostitution. It was also alleged when the victims refused, they were being beaten up.

According to police, a young woman lodged a complaint at Baguiati police station against one Rajkumar Swarnakar, alias Seth, alleging that two years ago, he promised her with a job and brought her to Baguiati. Later, she was forced to join as a dancer in a bar at Baguiati. She was also forced by Swarnakar to get involved in a prostitution racket. She was also kept under strict vigil so that she could not escape from his clutches. The woman also informed that Swarnakar trafficked another young woman and forced her to join the dance bar. Later, she was also forced to do the same thing to which she had refused. On November 11, Swarnakar allegedly went to the flat where the two victim women used to reside. He threatened them with dire consequences if they failed to obey his orders. When they refused both of them were assaulted with fists and blows. Swarnakar even used a glass bottle to hit the second victim. After she got injured he fled the scene.

The injured woman was immediately rushed to Deshbandhunagar hospital. On Sunday night, one of them lodged a complaint against Swarnakar for allegedly forcing them to into prostitution. Police arrested Swarnakar on Monday on charges of buying or disposing of any person as a slave, sexual exploitation of a trafficked person, voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means and criminal conspiracy. On Tuesday, Swarnakar was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court in Barasat and has been remanded to 5-day police custody.
