Family members of Arijit Banerjee, an IT employee in Bengaluru are spending sleepless night since he went missing.

Banerjee, an engineer from Bankura, had joined an IT company in Banagalore. Mathuranath, Arijit's father, had dreamed to make his son an engineer and had succeeded in realising it.

Residing in Keshiari area of Bankura, Banerjee belonged to a middle-class family and his father had toiled hard to establish his son.

The financial condition of the family improved after Arijit got a good job in Bengaluru.

Everything was going fine till on day Arijit's family received the news of his disappearance.

A private tutor by profession, Mathuranath had gone to Bengaluru and carried out an extensive search to trace his son. However, his efforts were in vain.

The news of Arijit's disappearance reached Bankura one-and-a-half month ago, about the same time that his father had gone to Karnataka to search for Arijit.

His family subsequently lodged a police complaint there, but the police are yet to get a trace of Arijit.

Arijit's family told police that they had talked to him in January last time. Since then, they had not had any telephonic conversation with him.

As the family members were unable to find any trace of him, Mathuranath himself had decided to go to Bengaluru. He said that Arijit had secured the IT job in Bengaluru around six months ago.

On the basis of the complaint, Bengaluru Police have started an investigation. They were interrogating people of the area that the victim had been staying in. They also interrogated some of Arijit's colleagues.
