The members of the SFB believe that the new app will reduce stroke cases by over 80 per cent. The 'Riskometer' App is available in more than 12 languages, including English and Bengali. A senior SFB official said users of the mobile app will have to fill in a questionnaire on the basis of the feedback the mobile app will automatically evaluate one's susceptibility to stroke. The experts at the institution say that the app will prove to be immensely handy for the people and will also provide alerts to patients.

The SFB has been dedicated to reduce people's sufferings from stroke or brain attack. According to experts, the incidence of stroke is rising rapidly not only in the state but across the country due to lack of awareness among all sections of population.

Strokes are preventable in 80-90 per cent of cases, if the responsible risk factors are early recognized and controlled, experts said.

One of the most important factors is hypertension, which is prevalent in about 40 per cent of adult population in the county.

The SFB believes that common preventable risk factors should be early recognised and controlled to decrease stroke cases.

One of the main purposes behind introducing the app is to aware the people about the nature of stroke or brain attack. It will also educate the people about the important risk factors of stroke, especially hypertension or high blood pressure, high cholesterol and sugar in blood, lack of physical exercise and smoking.
