Kolkata: New Town police station has initiated a murder case in connection with the unnatural death of the Calcutta High Court lawyer, Rajat Kumar Dey (34).

On Thursday, police received the autopsy report of Rajat. Sources informed that due to some ambiguities in the report police started a murder case based on the complaint filed by his father Samir.

Police informed that the case has been registered on charges of murder, causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender and criminal conspiracy against Rajat's wife Anindita Pal Dey, Alok Pal, Avik Pal and

Sabari Pal. No one has been arrested in this connection yet.

Rajat was found dead inside a room in his flat at DB 97 in New Town on Saturday night.

On Sunday, police initiated an unnatural death case. The case took a new turn on Monday after Samir lodged a murder complaint against Rajat's wife Anindita and three other members of her family. He also appealed to the Bidhannagar Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's (ACJM) Court in Salt Lake, requesting an order to carry out the autopsy examination in presence of a magistrate. The court granted the appeal and ordered police to conduct the autopsy in presence of a magistrate at R G Kar Hospital.

Though Samir lodged a murder complaint with the police, the sleuths were waiting for the autopsy report.

On Thursday, after the report came in, the sleuths decided to initiate a murder case as they found discrepancies. Samir previously alleged that Anindita used to torture Rajat regularly and she might have forced him to consume some poison. He also stated that he was informed by Rajat's brother-in-law Avik Pal over phone that his son was found unconscious. Rajat was declared brought dead when taken to Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital.

However, Rajat's wife had denied the allegations after her husband's death.
