Kolkata: Mohun Bagan club elections took place on October 28 at the Mohun Bagan club ground in Maidan.
The fight for the top-most post is already resolved as Swapan Sadhan Bose (Tutu Bose) has already been elected club secretary unopposed after Anjan Mitra decided to withdraw his nomination on October 3.
On Sunday, elections were held for the rest of the 21 positions (including 11 executive committee members) under the jurisdiction of three retired justices namely Sushanta Chatterjee, Dileep Seth and Ashim Kumar Roy. The venue witnessed a stream of ministers, former judges and eminent personalities from various walks of life apart from sports buffs exercising their rights.
The general election started under tight security at around 10.30 am. The total number of voters have been estimated at 8,584 out of which 4,952 votes have been polled. Till reports last came in, counting is still on. After 13 rounds, it is evident that Bose's men will experience a landslide victory.
Bose's panel boasts of seasoned administrators like Debashish Dutta and Srinjoy Bose and both of them have a strong connection with the younger generation of fans.
Moreover, several notable personalities from both politics and the Bengali film industry have lent their support to the panel led by Bose.
