Kolkata: A man was shot at on Sunday night when he was returning home from work. He was attacked by the miscreants, who were trying to snatch his bag and belongings.
According to sources, on Sunday night, a person identified as Bibhuti Ghosh was returning home on his bike along Kalyani Expressway. Around 11 pm, a few miscreants blocked his way at Kutubpur area near Bhatpara. The accused persons threatened Ghosh with dire consequences if he didi not handed them over his belongings.
All of a sudden, one of the miscreants tried to take away Ghosh's bag and his mobile phone.
However, Ghosh resisted. Immediately one of the accused persons took out a country- made pistol and fired a round. The bullet hit on Ghosh's
belly.
As soon as he fell on the road, miscreants snatched all his belongings and threw him in a roadside bush before fleeing the spot.
After a few minutes, Ghosh crawled out of the bush and came on the road to seek help. A man, who was driving in the area noticed him and rushed Ghosh to a nearby hospital and the police was also informed. Investigating officials are waiting for improvement in Ghosh's health condition as they need information on the incident from him.
A case has been lodged on charges of attempt to murder and using of illegal arms.
