Kolkata: A middle-aged man was arrested on charges of harassing a woman teacher, following an altercation after an accident at Garfa.
The incident took place on Monday and the person
was arrested on Tuesday, on
the basis of the woman's complaint.
Police said that the car of the arrested person had hit the complainant's car from behind on Monday evening, following which an altercation broke out between both of them.
The situation turned worse when the woman attempted
to take a photograph of the accident site. It was alleged that the person tried to stop the woman from taking any
photograph and harassed her as well.
Several people gathered at the spot. It has been learnt that local people had also protested against the incident.
The woman went to the local police station and lodged a complaint in this connection. Police arrested the person for alleged charges of harassing the woman.
In another incident, a youth was arrested on alleged charges of molesting and stalking a woman. The incident took place at Tangra.
It has been alleged that the youth had been following
the woman for the past two
or three days. He had even allegedly molested her. A complaint was lodged in this connection and police initiated a probe.
As per the statement of the woman and on the basis of her complaint, police arrested the youth.
They came to know that the arrested youth is a neighbour of the complainant. Police also spoke to some local people to get more information in this connection.
