Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee will address the virtual Martyrs' Day meeting on July 21.

The rally is the most important event of Trinamool Congress since the inception of the party on January 1, 1998.

Sixteen Youth Congress workers had been killed in police firing when they took part in march to Writers' Buildings demanding no EPIC card, no vote.

Trinamool Congress senior leaders led by Subrata Bakshi, party MP will garland the martyr's day column.

Lakhs of party supporters from across the state take part in the rally every year.

Political experts said as the Assembly election would be held in 2021, the importance of this year's rally had doubled.

From July 7 to 13, Trinamool Congress held meetings to demonstrate against the Centre's anti people policy that include hiking the prices of fuel among others and the steps taken by the state government to combat COVID- 19 and the super cyclone Amphan.

As the Assembly election is drawing near BJP will go all out and use the social media to circulate fake news.

Banerjee has said over and again to the party's leaders and rank and file to remain active on the social media.

She will have to boost up the party rank and file particularly in north Bengal where

party candidates could not do well in 2019 Lok Sabha

election.

The BJP has become very active in some pockets in north Bengal particularly in the bordering areas.

Party leaders and workers are waiting anxiously for her instructions on July 21.
