Major reshuffle in the IPS cadre

Kolkata: In a major reshuffle in the IPS cadre in Bengal, Vivek Sahay has been made the Director Security.

An IPS officer of 1988 batch, Sahay, was earlier posted as Additional Director General of Police (Traffic). After serving as ADG (Traffic) for the past four years since June 5 in 2017, Sahay has been made Director Security.

He has been made Director Security replacing Vineet Kumar Goyal, who has also been transferred to another crucial post of Additional Director General (Special Task Force). At the same time, Ajay Kumar Nand has been made the Inspector General of Police (Counter Insurgency Force). He was earlier posted as Inspector General of Police (Special Task Force).

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday itself during the Police Divas programme had directed Goyal and Nand to take up the responsibility of STF and CIF respectively.

Ajay Kumar, who is an IPS of 1993 bath and posted as ADG (CIF), has been transferred to the post of ADG (Traffic).

Natarajan Ramesh Babu, who was ADG (Traffic II), has been posted as ADG (telecommunication).

Kumar Gautam has been made the Commanding Officer of Specialised India Reserve Battalion (SIRB) Barjora replacing Jyotirmoy Roy, who has been made Commanding Officer of the first battalion of the State Armed Police (SAP).
