Kolkata: The last day of the written examination of Madhyamik was marked by confusion among various students with the model question paper of Life Science in 2017 being circulated on Whatsapp more than an hour before the start of the examination.
The model question paper of 2017 had 2018 written upon it along with the name and address of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE). This resulted in confusion among the students. In question papers of the Madhyamik examination, there is no mention of the Board and its address.
It is learnt that as soon as the matter came to the notice of WBBSE they lodged a formal complaint with the cyber crime cell of Bidhannagar City Police and also drew the attention of the state Home Secretary and School Education Secretary.
"We will identify the person responsible for this act and will take strong action," WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Ganguly said.
The Board on Tuesday showcaused the headmaster of a school at Moynaguri in Jalpaiguri district on charges of opening the sealed packet of question paper at least an hour before the scheduled time for opening the same.
It is learnt that Haridayal Roy, headmaster of Moynaguri Subhasnagar High School had opened the seal at around 10.40 am soon after the question papers had reached the school. The time for opening the same as directed by the Board is 11.40 am.
It may be mentioned that WBBSE has already ordered an inquiry into an allegation of the Madhyamik Physical Science question paper being leaked on WhatsApp on Saturday.
The leak allegedly happened out of an examination centre at Malda's Enayetpur High School.
The district magistrate has been ordered to conduct a probe in this matter.
