The Kolkata Police will interrogate Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel on Thursday in connection with the Munchipara case in which a former Central minister from Bihar received a call from Central Kolkata demanding extortion money of Rs 5 crore.
The caller had threatened the minister of posting a video footage featuring him in social networking site if the money is not given. Samuel was also found in the video footage.
According to an officer of the city police, Samuel will be reaching Munchipara police station at around 12 noon. He will be coming from Cochin where he was being interrogated by both the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Narada sting operation. He will reach Kolkata in a flight at around 11.45 am.
The police have recovered a laptop in which the video footages were found. Sources said that the police will be asking Samuel to clarify the reason behind his presence in the video footages. They will be also asking Samuel to describe that how the youth, who had fled from the hotel finding the police, got hold of those footages.
The Kolkata Police had conducted a raid on February 14 after receiving an information from Bihar Police that the former Central minister D P Yadav had been receiving threat calls from somewhere in Munchipara station and the caller demanded Rs 5 crore from the minister. While tracking the caller, the police reached the hotel and recovered the laptop. The accused had, however, managed to flee. The accused had provided a fake identity card while checking into the hotel and claimed himself as one Vikram Singh.
It is learnt that Samuel will also be going to the office of the CBI at Nizam Palace in Kolkata and ED's office at CGO complex in Salt Lake after the interrogation by the Kolkata Police.
