An 11-year-old boy died in Jalpaiguri, causing his family members to allege medical negligence and wrong treatment as the cause of death. A complaint to this effect was lodged at the Kotwali police station, Jalpaiguri.
According to Parsi Adhikari, mother of the deceased, her son Arjun Adhikari was playing cricket with his friends near their home on Thursday evening. "He was then hit by the plastic ball on the right side of his head and started vomiting," stated the mother.
When the vomiting did not stop even after he returned home, he was rushed to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital at around 5.30 pm on Thursday. He died on Friday morning at the Hospital. "He died due to wrong treatment and negligence. We have lodged a police complaint," said Rabindranath Adhikari, uncle of the deceased. The deceased was a resident of Baruapara of Raninagar, Jalpaiguri. "We have started investigating the case," said B Sarkar, Inspector in Charge of the Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police Station. When contacted, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Jalpaiguri, Dr Jaggannath Sarkar said that he has not received any written complaint regarding the incident.
