A fire broke out in the basement of a commercial building on Jawaharlal Nehru Road in the busy office hours on Wednesday. The fire broke out in the basement of the seven-storeyed building, causing panic as smoke billowed out of the basement of the building situated in the central business district. According to an officer of the state Fire and Emergency Services department, people noticed smoke billowing out of the basement of the building named Olpadvala Memorial Hall at around 12.45 pm. Four fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames and firefighters found that the source of the fire was some electrical panels in the basement of the building. Firefighters took around two hours to douse the flames which continued till around 3 pm.
