A decision was taken in Monday's Cabinet meeting to set up Tarakeswar Development Authority, Changrabanda Development Authority and West Bengal Rajbangshi Development and Cultural Board for an overall development of those regions. It was also decided that the Hazari Muslim Community would be included on the list of OBC. After the meeting,
Mamata Banerjee said: "Today (Monday) the Cabinet has decided to set up Tarakeswar Development Authority and the state government will allocate funds to the authority. I will visit the place as I am going to hold the administrative review meeting of Hooghly district on June 1 in Tarakeswar. We will look into what more development work can be done. Changrabanda Development Authority was also formed today (Monday). This is an area bordering Bangladesh and steps will be taken for the overall development of the region including the creation of infrastructure to set up industries there."
She added that she had promised the people of the Rajbangshi community during her visit to Cooch Behar that the West Bengal Rajbangshi Development and Cultural Board would be formed for the community. She further said that clearance has also been given for the creation of 5,000 posts on Monday which includes 3,200 posts to ensure better security in state-run hospitals.
