Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hold the administrative review meeting of Birbhum district on Monday.
Banerjee has set out for the district on Sunday afternoon in a helicopter from Dumurjala in Birbhum.
Senior state government officials including Chief Secretary Basudeb Banerjee, Home Secretary Moloy De and Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purakayastha will also be present in the meeting. Issues related to the ongoing development works in the district will be discussed in the meeting and the Chief Minister will be taking a stock on the progress of the work in the district of each and every department from respective officials.
Banerjee will also be giving suggestions on how to complete most of the pending tasks by the end of this year and at the same time she will be taking necessary steps for further development of the district. She will also be interacting with delegations from business houses and Chambers of Commerce. She will also take a stock of the functioning of private nursing homes in the district.
There had been reports of an incident in the district in which eight people were killed in an explosion when they were making bombs amidst to gain control over "illegal sand mining" at Labhpur in Birbhum. The issue of illegal sand mining and recovery of bombs from different parts of the district would also come up in the meeting. The Chief Minister will give necessary direction to the Superintendent of Police and other senior officials of the district to check such incidents in future. Banerjee will also be speaking to members of zilla parishad and gram panchayats to know about the progress of their projects.
Security has been tightened up to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the visit.
When the Chief Minister will be holding administrative review meeting in Birbhum on Monday, Left Front will march towards Nabanna.
The police have come to know that Left Front supporters will be initially gathering at 5 different points from where they will start marching towards Nabanna at the same time. Thus, the police have also made an elaborate arrangement to ensure that they cannot reach near the state secretariat by breaking 144 CrPC.
There will be security barricades in five levels at all strategic points so that the Left Front supporters cannot march forward after a certain point.
