Update: 2017-05-16 17:48 GMT
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned Narada News CEO Mathew Samuel for further interrogation in connection with the sting operation in which some political leaders were seen.

Samuel has been asked to turn up to the office of the investigating agency at Nizam Palace on May 19.

He is summoned by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Anti Corruption Branch of the CBI in Kolkata.

It is learnt that Samuel replied to the letter given by the CBI summoning him to its office stating that it would not be possible for him to turn up before the CBI on May 19 as he is unwell and might be undergoing certain surgeries.

Sources said that this is the second time when CBI has summoned him for interrogation in connection with Narada sting operation.

He was once questioned earlier in the CBI's office in Delhi when the Supreme Court had directed the agency to undertake a preliminary probe to assess the necessity of an investigation into it by the agency.

The CBI this time wants to get some more information about the sting operation and have prepared a questionnaire for the same.

It may be mentioned that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also summoned him in similar connection in its office at Salt Lake on May 18.

The agency had initiated a probe in this connection on April 28 under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on the basis of the FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
