A team comprising officials of the state government has left for Nepal on Tuesday to bring back the bodies of mountaineers Paresh Nath and Goutam Ghosh that are lying in the snow-clad Mount Everest since last year as the Nepal government had suspended the search operation on May 20 in 2016.

Family members of the deceased mountaineers had approached the state government to once again resume the search operation this year to bring back both of their bodies.

The body of Paresh has already been found and it is expected that Goutam's body  will also be recovered within two to three days. The team comprises principal secretary of the Youth Services and Sports department Sayeed Ahmed Baba, officer in-charge of Gariahat police station Ujjal Ray and one more person.

Last year 11 aspirants had taken up the expedition of Mount Everest. Three of them – Subhas Pal, Paresh Nath and Goutam Ghosh — had died during the expedition. Bodies of Paresh and Goutam were not recovered. The body of Subhas was found from near Yellow Band and brought back to the city.

The rescue work could not be carried out after May 20 in 2016 as the Sherpas could not reach camp number 4 where the bodies were spotted.
