Soon, KMC to launch health app to provide info on services

 The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will soon introduce a mobile-based application to ensure that the health services extended by various KMC-owned health centres easily reach the people.
'KMC Health App', the proposed mobile application will provide detail information about the 144 KMC-managed health centres in the city, their addresses and the road directions. The app will also help the department to fix the accountability of its employees at the health centres.

The main purpose of the new initiative is to ensure that every citizen residing under KMC's jurisdiction are well aware about various services they are entitled to get.

A senior official of the KMC's Health department said that talks are on with various mobile operators to introduce the new mobile application which can be downloaded from the play store on android mobile phones. One can have detailed information about the health centres and the services they are providing. The new application will help the department to monitor the functioning of various health centres and the activities of the employees.

A senior official of the Health department of the KMC said that people will get to know where and how they would get the treatment of various diseases like malaria, dengue and tuberculosis through this new application. 

The app will provide a detailed information about where blood tests can be done free of cost. In many cases, it has found that they do not know where to go to if someone falls ill. The KMC will also publish advertisements to make people aware about the new venture.

The most striking feature of the new application is that it will help in fixing the accountability of the employees of various health workers as the senior officials will get to know if the employees are providing the services or if there was any negligence on their part.
