KMC to repair 100 important roads before Durga Puja

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will repair more than 100 important thoroughfares in the city before the Pujas. The estimated cost would be around Rs 27 crore.
In Behala, Diamond Harbour Road, Taratala Road, Biren Roy Road East and West will be repaired. Thousands of people from South 24 Parganas come to the city during the Pujas and for smooth movement of vehicular traffic, repairing of these roads will be undertaken from middle of August. Circular Garden Reach connecting the Port areas with the city will be repaired. Mayor Sovan Chatterjee had said some days ago that Diamond Harbour Road and Taratala Road will be repaired soon.
Important thoroughfares like APC Road and AJC Bose Road will be repaired. Important roads in North Kolkata including Northern Avenue, Seven Tanks Road, Canal West Road will be repaired along with South Sinthee Road.
In Behala, KMC is unable to maintain the road due to BBD Bag – Joka Metro construction. There are road diversions along DH Road. Because of heavy rain in the past 15 days, potholes have come up affecting the flow of traffic. KMC will carry out the repair works round-the-clock to complete it by Mahalaya.
