Kolkata: As days pass, several new facts crop up in connection with the murder case in Khardah.
During one of the interrogations, Aditi, former wife of Pratul Chakraborty, claimed he had forced her to lend him money for which she had taken loan from several places to meet Pratul's demands. According to Aditi's recent statement, Pratul was connected with a chit fund where she was forced to
invest money. In order to provide the amount as per demanded, Aditi had loaned a good amount of money from a number of banks and a jewellery shop in the Kashipore area.
However, the sleuths are not believing her statements until it has been crosschecked.
To make sure that Aditi is not lying or trying to divulge the investigation, police will take her to the mentioned jewellery shop. Police will then confirm Aditi's claims.
As Aditi has kept changing her statements, the sleuths are not believing her before making confirming it.
Primarily, Aditi had claimed that the murder occurred in heat of the moment. But later, it came out that Pratul's murder was pre-planned.
After murdering Pratul, Aditi changed into the dress that she brought with her. Later, she disposed of her garments in a canal but by mistake she left her handkerchief at
Pratul's place.
In the interrogation, Aditi also admitted to have disposed of several documents of Pratul in the same canal to hide the chit fund connection and details of money. On Wednesday, Pratul's elder sister Chandana Chakraborty showed up and claimed Pratul was forced to discontinue his relationship with them by Aditi. As a result, they were not aware of what Pratul was upto.
He was deliberately murdered on December 20 inside his rented house at Khardah.
A food delivery person, who used to deliver food to Pratul everyday, smelled a rat as his repeated knocks on his door yielded no response.
However, upon entering, they saw Pratul lying on the bed with a torn garment wrapped around his neck.
