Kolkata: Housing and infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has asked all the Durga Puja organisers to report to police if they find anybody loitering in the area suspiciously.
A meeting with the Puja organizers was held in New Town on Thursday. Senior officials of HIDCO, New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), Fire and Emergency Services department and Bidhannagar Commissionarate were present in the meeting. There are 62 Pujas held in New Town.
Discussions were held on the cultural functions that are conducted inside the housing complexes along with the competition of Dhakis and Dunuchi dance. The organisers have been asked to conduct the immersion early.
The Bidhannagar Police Commissionarate will give permission to the Puja committees online.
This is for the first time when HIDCO will be giving prizes to the Puja committees through Blockchain to avoid any confusion. There are Pujas organised by the big housing complexes and small housing complexes. People will vote for best pandals, lighting and idols and even the diaspora can take part in the voting.
The Durga Puja in New Town is becoming popular with people from Kolkata and other neighbouring areas visiting the housing complexes to watch the cultural shows. The roads are illuminated at important intersections.
