Kolkata: The results of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination 2018 will be published on Wednesday.
The candidates will be able to download their rank cards from the website of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, from 2 pm onwards on Wednesday. In addition to that, the candidates can also see their ranks by visiting the website www.wbjeeb.in, from 4 pm onwards on the same day.
More than 1.25 lakh candidates had appeared for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination this year. The examination was held in as many as 334 centres in the state, 1 in Assam and four in Agartala, amidst elaborate security measures. Successful candidates will be able to opt for engineering, architecture or pharmacy degree courses in various universities and colleges in the state, according to their rank.
It may be mentioned that after the advent of the national level medical entrance examination across the country, the medical candidates are no longer part of the process. Earlier, both the medical and the engineering aspirants had to appear for the state level joint entrance examination. Medical candidates across the country now have to clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), for securing a medical seat.
Following the NEET question paper fiasco this year, many people from the state, particularly the guardians, are demanding that medical entrance must be brought within the purview of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, as had been earlier.
It may be mentioned that there were many errors in the Bengali translation of NEET question paper. This had prompted the city doctors to write to the Prime Minister and the Union Health Ministry, seeking their intervention.
