Information & Cultural Affairs dept sets up apex body for KIFF

Kolkata: The Information and Cultural Affairs department has set up an apex advisory committee for the 25th Kolkata International Film festival.

Film director Raj Chakraborty has become the chairman, while Indranil Sen, minister of state for the Information and Cultural Affairs department has been appointed as the co-chairman of the general body and executive council. Aroop Biswas, state minister for Sports and Youth Affairs has been made the chief advisor of the council.

The 10 members of the apex advisory committee include Madhabi Mukhopadhyay, Sabitri Chattopadhyay, Goutam Ghosh, Sandip Ray, Aparna Sen, Ranjit Mallick, Prosenjit Chattopadhyay, Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherjee and Arindam Sil.

The Kolkata International Film Festival has become a major event after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came to power in 2011. Films are being screened at different auditoriums in the city.

Films are also being shown on large screens in Parks so that common people can go and see them. The inaugural function is being held at Netaji Indoor Stadium to allow common people to enjoy the gala opening show.

In the competition and non-competition categories of films, the last date for submission of forms is August 31, while the last date of submission for short and documentary films in the competition and-non competition categories is August 20.
