Howrah resident stabbed by two unidentified youths

Kolkata: Tapan Mondal, a resident of Anandanagar area under Liluah police station in Howrah, was stabbed by two unidentified youths while returning home on Tuesday night.

He has been undergoing treatment at Howrah state general hospital with critical injuries on various parts of his body. According to the hospital, the patient's condition is serious.

Police said the victim was returning home on his scooter at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday when two

youths stopped him.

They dragged the victim from the place and beat him up badly. One of the accused suddenly took out a sharp weapon and started stabbed him

indiscriminately.

After being alerted by his screams, the locals rescued and rushed him to TL Jaiswal Hospital.

The victim was, however, shifted to Howrah state general hospital as his condition deteriorated late Tuesday night. The miscreants fled the spot leaving the motorcycle.

An irate mob set the bike on fire. The situation was brought under control by the senior police officers in the district. Police have started a detailed probe on the basis of the complaint lodged. They are yet to arrest anybody.
