Kolkata: Police arrested for persons on charges of creating trouble, damaging property and beating up security personnel of a restaurant at City Centre II.
Police said the incident took place on Friday night. A group of people started fighting among themselves all of a sudden. The restaurant authorities were shocked to find the group of people fighting amongst themselves.
The manager of the restaurant, Tapan Kumar Mondal, lodged a complaint with the police. The people, who had engaged into a fight among themselves, had damaged property of the restaurant.
The security personnel of the restaurant tried to bring the situation under control. But they were threatened and assaulted.
The restaurant authorities had informed the police. Policemen from the local police station went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
A case has been initiated with the New Town Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code on charges of Punishment for wrongful restraint (341 IPC), causing hurt (323 IPC), theft (379 IPC), criminal intimidation (506 IPC) and acts done
by several persons in furtherance of common intention (34 IPC).
Police arrested Sujoy Adhikari (33), Bishal Mandal (42), Souptik Pal (27) and Madhu Chowdhuri (30). All four are the residents of Baguiati area.
Police have initiated a probe to ascertain the exact reason behind the fight. However, the incident led to chaos in the area and they are taking all necessary steps to ensure that recurrence of such incidents do not take place again. Police have also taken statement of the restaurant authorities in this connection.
