Kolkata: Forensic experts collected samples and inspected the launch from which the general manager of Floatel had fallen into river Hooghly.
A team comprising forensic experts on Tuesday visited the place of occurrence, which is the vessel named MV Sivani, along with officers from West Port police station.
It may be recalled that Floatel general manager Arindam Bose fell into the river on Sunday when a party was going on the launch. Police had initiated a search for Arindam. Divers were engaged but they couldn't find him out. His wife Aditi Basu had raised a complaint with West Port police station. She raised a question on how her husband had fallen into the river without being noticed by anyone, when there were so many people on board.
Later, investigation revealed that most of the people, who were present on the boat that day, were in an inebriated state. Only an operator of the launch had seen Arindam falling into the river. He had alerted others and police were subsequently contacted.
Forensic experts on Tuesday spoke to the operator and inspected the launch to ascertain whether it is possible for someone to fall into the river accidentally from the vessel or if there was any foul play behind the death of Arindam. They have collected some samples from the spot.
Photographs of the spot were also taken by the experts as they will be studying the same to come to a conclusion in this connection. The forensic experts will be preparing a report and they will be handing it over to the investigating officers.
The report will help the police to ascertain the exact reason behind Arindam's death as early as possible. Police have already spoken to the people who were present there when the incident took place and took their statement in this connection.
