Kolkata: The first ever Utkrisht Rake in Indian Railways ran as 12311 Up Kalka Mail leaving Howrah station on Tuesday evening.
The first Uthkrisht rake of IR provided for 12311/12312 Kalka Mail of Eastern Railway is a Green Rake, developed at ER's Liluah Workshop by upgrading the coaches.
All coaches of this rake are fitted with odourless Swachh Rail Toilets, energy efficient LED tubelights inside the coaches, panel of LED lights in doorway & gangway, provision of dustbins in the toilets of all coaches, stickers with Go Green messages, provision of integrated basin-cum-dustbins in AC coaches. Moreover, the toilets of all the coaches have improved fittings, vinyl wrapping provided at the doorways of the coaches, night glow stickers and Braille signages inside the coaches and new colour scheme among other facilities, provided for comfort of the passengers as well as for improved aesthetics. Besides the improved & aesthetically designed passenger friendly fittings inside the coaches, the unique feature of this Utkrisht Rake is the provision of Swachh Rail Toilet (SRT), which is a hybrid design of bio-toilet system developed at Liluah Workshop of Eastern Railway. This Swachh Rail toilet has the advantages of less water consumption, no chocking of the system, complete sealing of odour and maintenance friendly.
