Kolkata: Family members of a patient, who died of alleged medical negligence, at Asansol Zilla Hospital on early Sunday morning ransacked a portion of the hospital.
The incident triggered tension among the patients and staff members of the hospital after news of the patient's death reached her family
members.

Police said the patient, Hemlata Devi, a resident of Burnpur was taken to the hospital on Saturday evening after she went into labour.
The patient was immediately admitted to the hospital. The family members of the victim alleged that they were informed in the morning about the death of the woman.
Hospital authorities have denied the charges of negligence and said that the patient was brought into the hospital in a very critical condition.
After being informed the family members of the deceased rushed to the hospital and started a protest against the authorities.
They alleged that the patient died due to negligence by hospital doctors and nurses. An irate mob also gheraoed the doctors and nursing staff of the hospital, alleging that the patient died as she had not been properly treated.
The family members of the patient raised questions on why the hospital authorities did not ask them to shift the patient to other hospital when her condition deteriorated.
A huge contingent of police rushed to the spot to pacify the mob. The demonstration was lifted after the police assured the protestors that the matter would be looked into. Police have started a probe in this regard.
