Elderly man dies of cardiac arrest during police questioning

A 62-year-old man died due to cardiac arrest when investigating officers in Sinthi police station were questioning him in connection with a molestation case. The incident took place on Sunday morning.

Family members of the victim, Snehamoy Dey, alleged that a fake complaint was lodged against him by an employee of a beauty parlour in the area. The complainant alleged that the aged man had molested her.

The police had summoned Dey to the police station for questioning on the basis of the complaint lodged against him.

The victim's family members alleged that he had been suffering from heart diseases. He had got depressed after knowing that such a complaint was lodged against him.

The family members alleged that the police were told that he was suffering from heart diseases. Despite of that the policemen interrogated him. He couldn't take the pressure of reply to the questions thrown to him during the interrogation and died due to cardiac arrest.

A police officer said that the complainant will also be questioned and legal steps would be taken against her if the allegations are found to be false.

The police have also started collecting footages of surveillance cameras in the beauty parlour to find whether the victim had really gone to the place or not. The police would also speak to some local people to ascertain whether the allegations were true.
