A couple was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old youth whose body was found in the premises of a school at Ekbalpore on Monday.
The couple – Saquel and Sajda Khatun – is a resident of a house situated just adjacent to the school where the body was found. Police suspect that the couple had pushed him from the terrace of their house and he fell inside the school's premises.
Though the police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder, they suspect that the victim Haider had got engaged into an affair with Sajda without knowing that she was married and it could be the reason why the couple had murdered him.
A police officer said that the victim had come in touch with the woman through a social networking site. Later, they had shared their mobile numbers.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the situation had started turning worse when Haider came to know that she was married. Police came to know that the victim was a businessman and the accused had taken money from him.
Despite being repeatedly asking to return the money, the accused didn't give back the money. Police also came to know that the accused didn't let the victim know her residential address. Later, Haider had somehow managed to get the address and he went to the house on Monday, police learnt after preliminary investigation.
Both the woman and her husband were in the house when the victim reached there. The victim had asked them to return the money that he had given to the woman. The couple somehow convinced Haider and took him to the terrace of the building. There was a heated exchange of words between the couple and the youth that finally led to a scuffle.
They beat up Haider and finally pushed him from the terrace. He received severe injuries on his head when he fell from the terrace and it resulted to his death.
Police had gone through the call details of the victim's mobile phone and found that he used to speak for long hours with the woman. Even on the day of the incident, the police found that there were several calls to the woman from the victim's mobile phone.
