Kolkata: Howrah Rural police have cracked the murder case of bank employee Partha Chakraborty and arrested prime accused Shaikh Samsuddin on Friday night. The police have also recovered the missing body parts of Partha beside National-Highway 6 after questioning Samsuddin. Later on Saturday night, his father Mansur Ali was also arrested for helping him dispose of the body.

According to police, Samsuddin's home was the last visiting point for Partha. After getting this lead, investigators scanned his call details and mobile phone tower location during which they noticed that he had some communication with Partha few hours before the latter's mobile phone was switched off. Smelling a rat, investigators detained him on Friday evening.

Initially, Samsuddin denied any involvement in the murder. Later, during the course of investigation, he accepted that he committed the crime, as Partha was putting pressure on him for repayment of a loan worth Rs 1.5 lakh on him which was sanctioned in the month of May.

The amount which Partha had collected on the day of his murder was also recovered from Samsuddin's home.

Sources informed that when Partha reached Samsuddin's home, he was taken inside from the back door of the house.

During a chat, Samsuddin hit Partha on his head with a heavy iron rod. Then he cut off his head, hands and legs from the body and wrapped them up with pieces of cloths and sponge. Mansur helped him with the wrapping.

Following Samsuddin's statement, he has been arrested. But investigators were quite sure that Partha's body was disposed of by more than one person. On Saturday afternoon, Mansur was detained and questioned. At first, he denied his involvement and later, after getting Samsuddin in police custody, investigators grilled both of them.

During the course of interrogation, Samsuddin admitted that his father helped him to hide Partha's bicycle and dump the body.

Mansur was then arrested and was slapped him with charge of Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender).
