Kolkata: Three persons were arrested by officials of the Ekbalpore police station for allegedly abducting a man on Thursday.
The police said the abduction was an outcome of a dispute between the victim and the accused persons over money.
According to the police, on November 8, five persons called the victim, identified as Avijit Barua, at Mominpur petrol pump area in Ekbalpore to discuss about the dispute. Barua along with a few of his friends went to meet them.
It was decided by both the parties that they would go to Ekbalpore police station and Avijit would give a written statement that he would return the money which allegedly to the dispute.
Avijit sat in the car, in which some of the accused persons had arrived. One of accused sat on the pillion seat of a bike, which was being driven one of Avijit's friend.
In the middle of the road, the man, who was on the bike with Avijit's friend, asked him to stop the bike and got down. He asked Avijit's friend to go to Ekbalpore police station.
After Avijit's friend reached the police station he found no one had yet arrived.
After a few minutes, he received a call from Avijit and came to know that the accused persons had abducted him and he was being taken to Burdwan. He informed Avijit's sister Basakhi Barua, who lodged a complaint against the accused persons.
On the same night, the police conducted raids at several areas of Burdwan but failed to find Avijit.
On November 9, Avijit returned home and later informed the police about the incident.
During the investigation, the police used the accused persons mobile tower location and on Thursday three persons identified as Primal Das, of Baje Pratappur, Tanmoy Roy of Memari and Sadananda Kesh Rajbati in Burdwan were arrested from Ekbalpore area.
