The K4 Police station at Anna Nagar in Chennai, Banbhoolpara in Nainital, Ghiror in Mainpuri, Rishikesh in Dehradun, Valapattanam in Kannur and Kirti Nagar in Delhi are the police stations whose names have come after Dhupguri police station.
According to a senior police officer, names of the police stations from North and South Bengal that the top brass of the state police consider to be the best ones were sought.
Name of Dhupguri police station was sent by senior police officers from North Bengal.
A team comprising officials from the Centre was sent to Dhupguri police station around one and a half
month ago.
The officials had gone through different aspects that are related to the functioning of the police station and it includes different types of cases as well. They had also seen how police behave when a woman comes to the police station with any problem or to lodge a complaint.
They might have spoken to some people in the area to get feedback about the role of the officers posted in the police station.
The team from the Centre has also inspected the infrastructure of the
police station.
They had prepared a report based on which a comparative study of all the police stations was carried out in which Dhupguri has ranked fourth out of the ten best police stations in the country.
This is the first time when a police station from North Bengal has received such a recognition and it comes at the time when the
Mamata Banerjee government has taken several steps in the past six years for the development of infrastructure of police stations.
