Kolkata: A youth has been arrested at the Ghola police station for allegedly beating his parents to death at Sodepur in North 24-Parganas.
According to locals, Sunil Saha (65) and Sefali Saha (60) lived with their son Amit Saha at Natagarh in Sodepur.
Amit, a salesman in a private company, returned home on Tuesday night and had dinner with his parents and went to his room.
Late on Tuesday night, he took a wooden log and went to his parents room.
He allegedly started hitting Sunil and Sefali on their head when they were sleeping. Sunil and Sefali started screaming. Their screams alerted the neighbours.
However, after a few minutes they stopped screaming. Sensing something fishy, neighbours went to Saha family's house and saw Amit was sitting on the floor beside the bed and Sunil and Sefali were lying on the bed in a pool of blood.
Immediately neighbours rushed Sunil and Sefali to Panihati State General Hospital where doctor declared them brought dead. Later, Amit was handed over to Ghola police station. Sources informed that Amit was in depression for several years.
Approximately five years ago, he married a woman but the relationship did not survive. Since then Amit had stopped interacting with anyone.
However, seeing the murder scene, it is suspected that Amit might have killed them in a fit of rage.
But why Amit had developed so much of anger for his parents is still unknown. Police are interrogating Amit to find out why he killed his parents. Police may take help of psychologists.
