Custom-made show named 'Our Universe' to be projected at Birla Planetarium from Nov 2
Kolkata: Buoyed by the tremendous popularity among the general public and student community since its reopening almost 15 months back, the newly refurbished and renovated MP Birla Planetarium has decided to give another unique experience to the visitors from Friday, November 2.
A specially custom-made show, named "Our Universe" will be projected at 6:30 pm every day from November 2. Initially, it will be in English but plans are on to project the same show in Bengali and Hindi at a later stage.
"The show promises to give a never-before experience of sitting in a spacecraft called MP Birla Planetarium and embarking on a journey of the space and beyond. One of the key aspects of the content of the show will be it will be very informative for the general public and also highlight an academic depiction of the solar system, of stellar worlds and even beyond the Milky Way Galaxy for students and astronomically-oriented people," said Dr Debiprosad Duari, Director, Research and Academic, MP Birla Planetarium, Kolkata.
The information and images of each of the planets as the imaginary spacecraft flies past each of them will be up to date keeping in sync with the latest observations of the large telescopes observing the sky at present. It plans to give a comprehensive, educative and at the same time an entertaining experience of the cosmic journey. The show named "Cosmic Collisions" in Hindi, Bengali and English that is presently being projected at the Planetarium has attracted and enthralled a huge number of students and people from all walks of life. Till date around 8 lakh visitors have attended the shows at the Planetarium.
