CESC welcomes 3.2 millionth customer on K N Sen Road

Kolkata: A CESC officer from South Division congratulated Raj Kumar Paswan on his new electrical connection. Paswan is the 3.2 millionth customer in CESC's licenced area.

CESC officer Aparna Roy Chowdhury, congratulated the Paswan family comprising the 45-year old Paswan, his wife and three children on the 3rd floor of 41, KN Sen Road, Kasba on Monday evening and handed over the company's official documents and an important CESC booklet on electrical safety to

the family.

Expressing the company's delight at welcoming it's 3.2 millionth customer, Avijit Ghosh, Vice-President ( Distribution) recalled that way back in April 1899, CESC had introduced power to the then Calcutta and only a very small group of citizens had the benefit of electricity.

Thereafter, across the century CESC steadily expanded its consumer base, keeping pace with the growth of the city.

Ghosh added that during the year ending March 31, 2018, CESC welcomed 1,03,000 new consumers.

Out of the present, 32 lakh CESC connections, around 27 lakh are Domestic, 4 lakh Commercial and others.

There was a time when getting a new power connection in the city was full of delays. Things have now changed totally and it is possible to get a new connection almost across the country.

In the case of Paswan, who stays in a 550 Sq. Feet flat on the 3rd floor, power connection could be provided by CESC immediately after the bill payment.

The new connection booklet, presented to Paswan by CESC contains a detailed list of relevant information regarding the various services offered by CESC and details of different channels through which a consumer can now get in touch with CESC.
