Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a youth at Moore Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Bhanu Prakash Chhetri (30), an engineer by profession was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his maternal uncle's house on Tuesday.
Police recovered Chhetri and rushed him to a hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Sources informed that Chhetri communicated with his lover and parents over video calls on Tuesday afternoon. After that he went to his room and a few hours later, when his relatives could not trace him, they knocked on his door. Despite repeated knocks, there was no response. Meanwhile, they opened a window from outside and saw Chhetri hanging. Immediately, Regent Park police station was informed.
Sources informed that Chhetri has been living at his maternal uncle's place since past four years. He used to work at a private company in Salt Lake. His family members alleged that Chhetri's lover used to demand expensive gifts from him. But he was not being able to satisfy her with his earnings. They were involved in fights due to this. Another sources informed that Chhetri had recently got in touch with another girl on Facebook which his lover discovered.
Thus, difficulties ensued between them. Chhetri's family suspect that he committed suicide over the problems he was facing in his love life. According to the police, no suicide note was found and no complaint was lodged.
Police have registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case and are probing.
