Kolkata: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police was found dead inside his flat at Latbagan in Barrackpore on Saturday night.

Subrata Bose (58) was posted at Canning traffic guard for the last few years.

Locals alleged that Bose had some personal problems with his wife Soma. As a result, she used to live separately. On Saturday night, locals heard Soma's scream from Bose's flat at building number 12.

Some of his neighbours rushed there and saw him lying on the floor with blood coming out of his mouth and nose. While some of them were checking with Bose, Soma left the flat without saying a word.

This triggered tension in the area suspecting that Some is somehow connected with Bose's death. He was immediately rushed to B N Bose Sub-Divisional Hospital where doctors declared Bose brought dead. Titagarh Police Station was informed immediately.

Later on Saturday night, Soma arrived at Titagarh Police Station without being called.

She was being questioned about Bose's death. Sources informed that seeing Bose's body doctors suspect that he might have faced a cardiac arrest following a severe stroke. Soma told police that Bose was suffering from several age-related disease such as high blood pressure and hypertension. "Exact cause of death could only be said after an autopsy. If any complaint comes, it will probed," said K Kannan, Deputy Commissioner (zone I) of Barrackpore Police.

In another incident, a 64-year-old person identified as Rabindranath Bhattacharya was found dead inside his home at Paschim Putiyari in Haridevpur. He was staying alone for a few days as his wife and daughter had gone for a visit to his in-law's home. On Sunday, a relative of Bhattacharya arrived at his home and kept knocking on the door. When Bhattacharya did not open the door after a long time, the visiting person called his neighbours. Later, police was informed. Police personnel from Haridevpur Police Station broke open the door and found Bhattacharya's decomposed body. No foul play is suspected.
