Body found in Kalighat, elderly woman kills self in Survey Park

Kolkata: Tension gripped local residents of Mahim Halder Street after they spotted an identified body in Kalighat on Monday morning.

Though no external injury marks were visible, locals suspect that the youth whose body was found was murdered.

According to sources, on Monday morning, around 6:30 am, local residents saw a man lying unconsciously in front of the house located opposite to the Kalighat High School.

Someone from the area informed Kalighat police station following which police recovered the body and sent for autopsy examination.

However, the person was not identified yet but it assumed that the deceased person is aged around 47 years.

Though police came to know about the body on Monday morning, a few of the local residents claimed that the persons was seen lying there since late on Sunday night.

Police are waiting for the autopsy report as it would confirm the cause of death. Meanwhile, police are circulating the deceased person's picture across the state in order to identify him.

Investigators are facing a bit problem as there are no CCTV camera in the vicinity

where the body was found lying.

Police are questioning some street dwellers in and around from the area to know if they had seen the person alive.

In a separate incident, an elderly woman was found hanging from the window of her bedroom in Survey

Park.

Around 7:30 am on Monday Survey Park police station was informed about woman's death.

Later, she was identified as Kamala Goswami (79) of 59/4 Avenue South. Police came to know that she was suffering from osteoporosis since last eight months.

Due to her ailment, she went into depression and attempted to commit suicide twice in last four months by consuming sleeping pills. No foul was detected during preliminary investigation.
