BJP workers' scuffle in Durgapur

Kolkata: Demonstration, scuffle among BJP workers and allegation of cut money against some leaders marred the party's Chintan Shivir at Durgapur on Sunday.

Party workers shouted slogan when the central leadership gave membership to Manoj Upadhaya.

They alleged that Upadhaya, a local coal mafia is close to local Trinamool leadership. The demonstration took place when party national and local leaders, including Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mukul Roy, SS Ahluwalia ,Rahul Sinha and Dilip Ghosh were present on the dais. The leadership intervened and pacified the demonstrators.

Meanwhile , outside the auditorium two groups of party workers got them engaged in a scuffle. They broke chairs and tried to break the fencing. The scuffle took place when one group alleged that Lakshman Ghorui, president of West Burdwan unit of the party was backing the new members. The opposite camp resisted and a scuffle took place. The groups broke open chairs and shouted anti Ghorui slogan.

BJP workers further alleged that some leaders in the West Burdwan district were involved in cut money.

It may be mentioned that sometime back the people of Basithat in North 24-Parganas alleged that state general secretary of the party Sayantan Basu had not distributed money, which the state leadership had given to him among the block level employees. As a result, the party candidate lost in the Lok Sabha election. They put up posters in Basirhat town.

Dilip Ghosh, state president of BJP said such indiscipline will not be tolerated and those who are party members should behave sensibly. There are party forums where they can raise their objection.
