With a view to impose discipline, the authorities of a co-educational school in Birbhum have decided to allow boys on even days and girls on odd days to attend classes. West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education is looking into the matter. The school is situated at Khairasole block of Birbhum.
As there are 238 students in Class XI and 228 students in Class XII, the school authorities have decided that boys will attend classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and girls on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Though the students have accepted the system and are attending classes, the matter has been referred to the District Inspector of School for his opinion. Some days ago, the girl students had alleged that they had been teased by some fellow boys students. The school authorities then decided that classes should be held on different days to avoid troubles.
The teachers said though they had to take the same classes for the students separately, they are happy as classes can be taken peacefully and without any trouble. The academicians said that this system cannot be followed as this would affect the progress of studies.
