Bajrangi Bhaijaan's toil to help six-year-old Shahida, addressed as Munni in the entire movie, to go back to her parents in Pakistan had brought tears to everyone's eyes in 2015. But hardly did anyone expect that after two years, the plot of the movie in the reel life will become true in the real life of an elderly woman from Bangladesh, Jahida, who came to Kolkata for her treatment.
Jahida is now being called as Jahida Chachi by policemen at Bowbazar police station. Though she has now become like a family member of the police team and it would be bit difficult for them to bid her adieu, everyone wants her to return to her near and dear ones at Khulna in Bangladesh.
Jahida came to Kolkata a few months ago along with another woman from Bangladesh. Both of them came here for treatment in the "city of joy" and their treatment had started in Calcutta Medical College and Hospital.
The other woman had left the hospital a few weeks ago with the completion of her treatment and went back to Bangladesh. However, doctors had advised Jahida to stay back for some more days in the hospital as it was essential for her treatment.
She used to stay in the night shelter of the hospital and where everything went wrong for the woman. Around ten days ago, the woman woke up one fine morning to find that her small hand bag containing some money, medical documents and most importantly her passport missing. It was later found that her handbag was stolen from the night shelter in the hospital.
She was in the dark without knowing anyone in the city though neighbouring but in a foreign country. People in the area advised her to go to Bowbazar police station as she might once again land in another trouble if she approaches an unknown person.
The woman didn't have to worry much after she reached Bowbazar police station. Sub-inspector (SI) Dodan Tamlong, SI Jamirul Islam and home guard Pampa Bhattacharya took all responsibility of her to go back to her motherland.
They arranged for a shelter for the woman to stay for a few days in the Musafirkhana in Bari Masjid at Barabazar. The police team collected documents related to her entry to India from Haridaspur Immigration Check Post. They took Jahida to Bangladesh High Commission with a prayer to grant a fresh travel and exit permit to her.
It usually takes a long time to get necessary clearances and permit in such cases when the applicant doesn't have a passport. The team of police officers took necessary steps and requested the concerned authorities so that the permits can be given as early as possible.
Finally, Jahida has got the necessary clearances a few days ago will go back to Bangladesh. Jahida will start her journey from Kolkata for her home on Thursday.
