Agitation in Raiganj in connection with sexual harassment of tribal women led to a chaos in the town on Saturday morning too. It may be mentioned that tension ran high on Friday on the similar issue at Raiganj and a bus stand was set on fire. The traders in the area got panicked and they approached the police to take necessary steps so that shops and markets can be opened and normalcy can be restored in the area. The incident led to disruption of movement of traffic on National Highway 34. Burning tyres were left on the road so that no vehicles could move ahead. However, a large contingent of police was pressed at the spot and the situation has been brought under control. Police pickets have been posted so that the situation doesn't deteriorate further.
